Empowering School Dropout Girls Through Skill Training
Why Hawi Designs Exists
The challenge
In Kenya, early pregnancies cause approximately 13,000 girls to drop out of school annually. This disrupts their education and limits future opportunities, often trapping them in a cycle of poverty and dependence.
Our solution
The “Seeds to Deeds” project empowers these girls with skills in crocheting, knitting, mat making, and beadwork. By providing training and resources, we help them achieve financial independence and rebuild their lives.
Our Mission
To empower school dropout girls in Kenya affected by early pregnancies by providing them with valuable skills in crocheting, bag making, mat making, and beadwork, fostering economic independence, self-esteem, and community reintegration, ensuring sustainable futures, and breaking the cycle of poverty.
Our Objectives
Skill Development
Provide in-depth training in various crafts to enhance employability and entrepreneurial capabilities.
Economic Empowerment
Enable girls to generate income through the sale of handcrafted products, reducing financial dependence.
Social Reintegration
Foster a supportive community environment where these girls can rebuild their self-esteem and regain social standing.
Sustainable Futures
Encourage the formation of cooperatives and small businesses to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
